Tuki calls for technical knowledge & specialization
DAPORIJO, Oct 30: The 8th Annual General Conference of the All Arunachal Pradesh Workers Union was held at Rijo Ground, Daporijo today. Representatives from all over the state are taking part in the conference.
Addressing the gathering, Minister PWD & UD Nabam Tuki said that technical knowledge and specialization was essential for better quality of work by workers. He advised the workers to gain technical knowledge from the ITIs set up all over the state, so that the state would not have to rely on outside resources for execution of major projects coming up in the state.
He also stated that the state government was sympathetic towards the conditions and cause of the workers and so had accepted their demands by recently increasing their salary, and introducing the Voluntary Retirement Scheme which has benefitted many workers. A request was made by him to all the workers to work hard so that the villages and the state develops goes forward. He assured the workers that the state government would look into their genuine demands and try to fulfill them.
Tuki further said that real work towards the development of the state is done by the workers of the state, therefore credit and respect for their work should be given to them.
Padi Richo Parliamentary Secretary, Labour and Employment & Land Management, urging the workers to work in a united way, informed them that it was imperative that the workers got themselves registered so that they could avail the benefits provided by the government.
Nido Pavitra Parliamentary Secretary Health and Family Welfare & Cooperation, MLA Tapen Siga, Labour Commissioner O. Darang, Jalley Sonam Chairman, APB&OCWWB, i/c DC G. Ete ADC, SP A. Bitin, OC CRPF and HODs were also present.
A meeting was also held in the Circuit House, Daporijo where Minister PWD & UD, Nabam Tuki met with the departmental heads of the district and interacted with them. He advised all the officers to work hard and serve the public of the area as all were answerable to the people. ITANAGAR, Oct 30: Namsai Township is slowly limping back to normalcy. The town witnessed violent clashes on Oct 23 following a rally demanding Permanent Residential Certificate.
Meanwhile, according to sources, some of the 300 people who had to leave their houses from nearby villages including Mohong have been temporarily accommodated at Urban Dev. Building. The full rehabilitation is a cause of worry as many lost their houses.
All section of people from various villages and organizations helped the victims with whatever resources available.
The ATKSSU (All Tai Khampti Singpho Students’ Union), TKDS (Tai Khampti Development Society), ANAYA (All Namsai Area Youth Association), TKS Council (Tai Khampti Singpho ) and the Women’ Welfare Associatio of Namsai took serious responsibility in handling the situation.
Minister (PHED) Chowna Mein, the MLA, Namsai, Nang Sati Mein came forward to lend helping hand to the affected people of Old Mohong, New Mohong and Silatoo personally and promised all the possible help financially and physically for rehabilitation.
Chowna Mein, MP Ninong Ering, TKDS and Women’s Welfare Association and other individuals have donated money as relief for the affected people. The bazaar committee also came forward to help with open arms along with all the shopkeepers to donate whatever they could. The P.H.E.D, Electric, Forest, Medical also came forward to help.
Overwhelmed at the response from concerned citizens, the All Namsai Youth Association (ANAYA) said that it has been proved that humanity is still alive and will never vanish from the hearts of Arunachalees as it is a tradition and a tribal instinct.

NE Annual Conference ends at Tawang
TAWANG, Oct 30: The two days 23rd Annual Conference of North East Branch of Association of Otolaryngologist of India (NEBAOI) concluded here successfully today. Around 200 ENT doctors and resource persons from North East and other states including New Delhi thronged to the conference with an objective to sensitize the ENT and its related diseases.
Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu while addressing the inaugural function of the conference yesterday said that health sector has always been a priority of his Government.
Khandu while extending his gratitude to the doctors for conducting free medical checkups during the conference which benefitted the locals at large, he said ENT related diseases have been posing a great threat to the world today. He believed that the scientific deliberation during the conference would be beneficial in improving the Otolaryngology science in the world. He also expected new modes and means of treatments for the ENT related cases.
He further appreciated the team for creating awareness and sensitizing the rural masses on various kinds of diseases and its precautionary measures. The conference shall provide a platform for furtherance of one’s knowledge in the arena of newer concepts and developments in surgical techniques, he emphatically said.
In his address as guest of honour, DC D Kamduk emphasized the need of holding such conferences. He opined that such scientific conference will undoubtedly give boost to the battle of human against diseases. He also lauded the visiting doctors for conducting free medical checkups and small surgeries and hope that they would continue with their efforts for the betterment of human being.

Ering visits Rani village, unhappy at bad road conditions
PASIGHAT, Oct 30: During his East Siang district tour, Lok Sabha MP Ninong Ering visited the Rani village, 9 km away from district headquarters to take stock of the development activities yesterday.
Among others, EEs of PWD and PHED, RWD AE, State Seva Dal Organizing Secretary Oyin Yomso accompanied the MP during his visit.
While addressing the villagers in a public meeting the MP appealed the gathering to join hands with single agenda of development only. Stressing on the need of improvement in education sector, maintenance of health and hygiene, MP also emphasized on brotherhood and harmony which is the key factor in accelerating the pace of development.

Centre should compensate Arunachal: Tuki
Itanagar, Oct 30: The Centre should compensate Arunachal Pradesh with special allocation
against the loss suffered after denial of an Asian Development Bank (ADB) loan, PWD
and UD Minister Nabam Tuki said, while addressing the North East Urban INFRACON-
Tuki said though other North Eastern states availed ADB loans with the approval of the Centre, the proposal of Arunachal Pradesh government was rejected because of China’s objection, sources said.
Tuki also called for a pragmatic plan to check the massive migration from rural areas to urban areas, which was the root cause of slums mushrooming in urban centers.
Appreciating various central schemes, like Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Rajiv Awas Yojana, Basic Services for Urban Poor (BSUP), Integrated Housing Development Schemes for Small and Middle Towns (IHDSSMT), Tuki said that equitable development would be possible if the schemes were given based on needs, considering the geographical disadvantage instead of the population criteria. Claiming that the BSUP criteria of 10% grant by the banks, 15% by beneficiaries and 75% by the Centre was impractical as poor beneficiaries would not be able to pay their share, Tuki called for a review of the criteria.
Regretting that banks were urban centric despite the government’s call for financial inclusion of areas uncovered by them, Tuki urged bankers and financial institutions to set up branches in rural areas and consider genuine cases for grant of loans, the sources added.
ECI to check illegal use of money during elections
ITANAGAR, Oct 30: Election Commission of India (ECI) has taken several measures to check and curb illegal use of money during elections.
To curb incidence of such offence and ensure free and fair election, the Commission has issued instructions to the law enforcement agencies to form flying squads to keep watch over distribution of cash, liquor and other items in constituencies during election process and seize the said items.
“Instances are reported to the Commission and also in media that cash, liquor and several utility items are being used in a clandestine manner during the process of elections for bringing influence on the voters. Such distribution of cash, liquor and any other item for gratification of the voters is bribery and is punishable under IPC,” an ECI release said.
The Commission has also advised the intending candidates to open separate bank accounts for their election expenses and to make all election expenses through the said bank accounts.
“In order to maintain the purity of elections and in particular to bring transparency in the process of elections, it is advised that political parties avoid transactions in cash and should instruct their office bearers, officials and candidates not to carry huge cash during the process of elections,” the release added.
These preventive measures were taken during Commission’s meeting with all political parties in Patna on October four last in the backdrop of reported use of money power during the process of general election to the legislative assembly of Bihar.

Free health camp
ITANAGAR, Oct 30: A free Health Camp arranged by SEVA Bharat Tezu and supported by District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit Lohit on Oct 29 was held at Christian Revival Church, Tezu.
104 turned up for the screening of which 81 patients received treatment for various ailments. Majority of the patients had problems of Respiratory Tract Infections followed by Peptic ulcer syndromes and few conjunctivitis.
A Hepatitis 'B' and HIV/AIDS screening were conducted as a part of camp.

Contractors decide
ITANAGAR, Oct 30: The East Siang unit of All Arunachal Pradesh Govt. Registered Contractor Association demanded various head of departments (HoD) of East Siang district to carry out works on tender basis.
The association, in its meeting held yesterday also resolved, among others, to collect information regarding construction works from various HoDs of East Siang, pressurize departments to inform about tender notice to the president and secretary.
